Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach msjane@artingwithmsjane.com if you cannot find an answer to your question <3

No snacks or food in the studio.  Our classes are about 45-60 minutes, so please plan to eat before or  after your class time. The exception is our Home school Art Class and  Summer Art Camps, which allows for a designated snack time.

  • If a sibling or child is with you regularly for a caregiver/child  class, it is best if they are able to join the structured activity. If  they are with you for unusual circumstances, such as a snow day or weather day at their school, they are welcome to join. If they choose to sit off to the  side, please plan to bring an activity that is NOT electronic. I-pads and phones are too distracting to the children attending class, and unfortunately, we do not have a separate waiting room.
  • If an older sibling is staying home from school due to health  reasons, they should not be at ARTing with Ms. Jane. Please make alternate plans.

Young children in preschool are naturally exploring and developing social skills. Their behaviors can be dynamic and unpredictable as they learn to navigate classroom interactions. Our experienced staff understands and supports this critical developmental stage.

In our program, we prioritize creating a safe and positive learning environment. During caregiver/child classes, we expect parents and guardians to actively guide and redirect their child's behavior. Our staff is prepared to support families in managing classroom interactions, but we believe primary behavioral guidance comes from the accompanying adult.

At ARTing with Ms. Jane, I strive to create a warm, creative space where every child can flourish artistically. For my drop-off classes (K-12th grade), I want to make sure your child has the best possible experience!

If your child has a behavior plan or IEP goals at school, please let me know about these supports before classes begin. While we're having fun making art, I still need students to be able to respect others in our creative community and follow basic instructions. Unlike a traditional school setting, I don't have teaching assistants or the same support systems your child might be used to during their school day.

For my home school families - if you know your child benefits from specific strategies or approaches, please share these with me! I want to help every child succeed in our art space.

If your child is truly passionate about art but struggles in small group settings, one option is for parents to join us as your child's one-on-one support person during class. If this isn't possible, or if disruptions continue to impact the overall class experience, I may need to have a conversation about whether my current class structure is the right fit.

I promise to work with you to explore other artistic opportunities in our area that might better suit your child's needs if ARTing with Ms. Jane isn't the perfect match. The goal is always to help every child connect with art in a way that works for them!

Ultimately, I do need to make decisions about appropriate placement to ensure all students receive the quality art education they deserve.
