With a rich multicultural background spanning from Valdosta, Georgia to Nairobi, Kenya and Nicosia, Cyprus, Jane Grace Hatcher brings a uniquely global perspective to her artistic instruction. This worldview was recognized early in her career when she was awarded 2nd place for the Island of Cyprus in the Heritage Foundation for the European Union.
Jane's formal education includes an A.A.S. degree in Photographic Technology from Pensacola State College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of West Florida, complemented by a Minor in Education. Currently, she is expanding her expertise by working toward becoming an Art Therapy Practitioner, blending her passion for creativity with healing.
In 2023, Jane furthered her artistic development through a prestigious residency at the National Gallery, where she immersed herself in masterworks, refined her techniques, and developed innovative approaches to art education. This transformative experience continues to inform her teaching methodology and creative vision.
For 7.5 years, Jane dedicated herself to teaching art to kindergarten through middle school students at a private school in Pensacola, Florida. Now embarking on an exciting new teaching adventure with ARTing with Ms. Jane, she brings her wealth of classroom experience and National Gallery insights into a more personalized creative space.
What truly sets Jane apart is her boundless curiosity, inner light, and creative spirit. Her personal artistic passions include exploring light, film, wire fibers, and gardening. Her work and teaching are inspired by innovative artists such as Heather Ackroyd & Dan Harvey, Shana & Robert Parkeharrison, and Binh Danh, a deep love for Art History, and a conviction that students of all ages need to understand the rich context behind artistic expression.
Jane doesn't just teach art techniques—she nurtures creative journeys, helping students of all ages discover their unique artistic voices while building a foundation of skills, knowledge, and appreciation for the world's rich artistic heritage. Through her guidance, students learn not only how to create art but also how to connect with the vast human story told through centuries of artistic tradition.
